About
Our Story
PartnerSF was established on a foundational observation: San Francisco's most pressing civic challenges — declining commercial corridors, uneven public services, diminished community cohesion — are experienced at the neighborhood level, yet the institutions charged with addressing them operate almost exclusively at the city level. The result is a persistent mismatch between where problems are felt and where resources are deployed.
We were built to close that gap. PartnerSF operates as a structured intermediary between the private sector, city government, and local communities — convening cross-sector coalitions, producing original neighborhood-level research, and delivering evidence-informed programming. The model is intentionally disciplined: every initiative is traceable to a research finding, every partnership is accountable to published outcomes, and we will report publicly on how every dollar is used.
What began as community programming in San Francisco's Marina District has grown into a nonprofit with three integrated operating units — the PartnerSF Collective, PartnerSF Insights, and PartnerSF Activations — each designed to deliver on a singular mission: strengthening neighborhood economies and community wellbeing through principled private-civic partnership.
Our Mission
PartnerSF builds private-civic partnerships that strengthen San Francisco neighborhood economies and community wellbeing through neighborhood-level research and public programming.
Institutional Values
What we hold to.
Partnership
Durable civic outcomes require structured collaboration across sectors. No single institution — public, private, or philanthropic — possesses the resources, authority, and community trust needed to strengthen a neighborhood alone.
Neighborhood Scale
We operate at the neighborhood level because that is where economies are experienced, where community is formed, and where the consequences of policy are most immediately visible.
Evidence Over Anecdote
Every program we design, every recommendation we make, and every investment we advocate for is grounded in original research. We do not act on assumption.
Inclusive Vitality
A thriving neighborhood serves its full community — residents, business owners, workers, artists, and visitors. Our programming is designed to strengthen the economic and social fabric for all who participate in it.
Join us in building stronger neighborhoods.
We invite organizations and individuals who share our conviction that neighborhoods deserve institutional-quality investment.
